Keto Diet

             In consonance with the diet doctor website, “A ketogenic diet otherwise known as “keto diet” is a low carb, high fat diet. It can be effective for weight loss and certain health conditions then. Thus, it is one way which limits carbs and has many potential health benefits and can help the body burn more fat, reduce hunger, and reduce blood sugar levels.”

            To illustrate how it works, if you eat less than 50 grams of carbs a day, your body will run out of energy.  Your blood sugar can be used quickly. This will run up to 3-4 days.  You start losing weight when the protein and fat starts to breakdown for energy. This process is called ketosis.

            If you’re wondering what kind of foods you will take, here is your guide:

1.    Look for healthy unsaturated fats such as nuts (almonds, walnuts), seeds, avocados, tofu, and olive oil;

2.    Saturated fats from oils (palm, coconut), lard, butter, and cocoa butter are encouraged in high amounts definitely.

3.    Protein is part of the keto diet as well like pork, bacon, and beef.

4.    Fruits like berries in small portions is fine.

5.  Vegetables, especially those leafy greens such as spinach, kale, Swiss chard, cauliflower, broccoli, Brussels sprouts, asparagus, bell peppers, onions, garlic, mushrooms, cucumber, celery.

Benefits of Keto Diet:

-        Supports weight loss

-        Improves acne

-        May improve heart health

-        May protect brain function

-        Potentially reduces seizures

       Even so people use this kind of diet most often to lose weight, you should consult and talk with your doctor first to find out if it is safe for you to try keto diet because potential risk may happen like nutrient deficiency so better way to ask help with your doctor beforehand.
