Important Things to Remember on a Rainy Season

“Rainy days and Mondays always get me down” goes the song of The Carpenters. Frequent rainy days truly get us down when we are not protecting ourselves from what it may bring. Many people get sick due to the sudden change of temperature. Those with low immune system may easily catch a cold when exposed to the breeze.

Here are some things to remember during the rainy season:

1. Prepare your protective Rain Gears – Be sure to have an umbrella, a hooded jacket or a raincoat. They protect you best from being wet and soaked.

2. Increase intake of Vitamin C – Vitamin C boosts the immune system to prevent sickness and flu. You may also eat citrus fruits, oranges, lemons, and berries.

3. A good shower is important after being caught in the rain – Diseases are likely to develop when your body experiences sudden change in temperature. Taking a shower helps your body adjust to the cold temperature brought by the weather, and it washes away bacteria or virus that would lead to other infections.

4. Have a cup of hot drinks – After taking a shower, make a hot soup or drink a cup of coffee, milk, or tea. They give you a sense of relief from the cold weather.

5. Drink Plenty of Water – Hydrating yourself with water helps fight cold and flu viruses. It also cleanses the body as it washes away germs and bacteria.

Getting sick during rainy season is common but we must always stay protected. As the saying goes “prevention is better than cure”.

Gear yourself up these rainy days!
